Schrammel 2.0 is a small, family-run natural winery built around old vines, close attention and the quiet confidence to work on a human scale. The project began in 2015, when Daniel bottled a tiny parcel of Grüner Veltliner for the local market. What started as a personal experiment soon grew into a shared vision. With the addition of another vineyard in 2018, Daniel and Nicole fully embraced natural winemaking, and Schrammel 2.0 was born.

At the heart of the winery are old family vineyards planted in 1962 and 1979 by Nicole’s grandfather. These mature vines bring depth, balance and character to the fruit, giving the wines a sense of continuity that reaches beyond any single vintage. For Daniel and Nicole, working with these parcels is both a privilege and a responsibility: they are not simply making wine from old vines, but caring for a family landscape that has been lived with for generations.

Neither of them followed the conventional route into winemaking. Daniel works in sales and marketing in Vienna, while Nicole is a special-needs teacher, mother of three and someone who grew up surrounded by vineyards. Their project is woven into everyday family life, rather than separated from it. That closeness gives the wines a direct, personal quality: they are not designed around a formula, but shaped by the people and place behind them.

The vineyards are farmed with an emphasis on biodiversity and care. Alongside the vines, the family tends its own vegetable garden, creating a small, living ecosystem where food, plants, insects, soil and people all belong to the same rhythm. This approach is not about a polished image of sustainability, but about working attentively with what is already there.

Schrammel 2.0 wines are small in scale but generous in character. They reflect old vines, family history and a natural approach that values energy, texture and honesty over technical perfection. Thoughtful, lively and deeply personal, they show what can happen when wine remains closely connected to everyday life and the land beneath it.
