Blaufrankisch Koregg 2023
A balanced and deeply terroir-driven Blaufränkisch from biodynamically cultivated vineyards in Southern Styria.
The silicon-rich slate and iron-rich primary rock soils of the steep Koregg vineyard impart a special mineral tension to the wine, while showing a fruitier and more open character than the wines from the cooler Hochegg area. The destemmed grapes remain on the skins for about two weeks, until the end of fermentation, then age for a year in old oak barrels with regular bâtonnage, giving it a silky texture, fine tannins, and serene depth. Cherry, dark berry, herbaceous, peppery, and smoky stony notes unfold with vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish.
Bottled unfiltered, unfined, and with no added sulfur.
