Sgaminegg 2022
A deep and particularly terroir-driven white blend from biodynamically cultivated, old South Styrian vines.
Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grow on pure, stony Opok soil in higher-altitude vineyards, cooled by winds from the nearby Koralpe mountain range, giving the wine exceptional freshness, mineral tension, and aromatic complexity. The hand-harvested grapes are spontaneously fermented in large wooden barrels and then aged on fine lees for nearly two years in small neutral barrels. The result is a layered and powerful wine, where citrus oiliness, quince, herbal, smoky, wet stone, and delicately nutty notes unfold with crystal-clear acidity and a long, saline finish.
The wine retains a small amount of residual sugar, which adds a delicate softness and extra impetus without detracting from the wine's precision or freshness. Alongside its depth and concentration, the wine remains vibrant, energetic, and beautifully balanced.
Bottled unfiltered, unfined, and with no added sulfur.
