Birdscape Pink Maceration 2025
Birdscape Pink is a wine that deliberately escapes easy classification, sitting somewhere between rosé and a light red. It comes from a tiny mixed vineyard on the edge of the forest, where more than twenty different grape varieties grow together. Blaufränkisch forms the base, accompanied by numerous other, predominantly red varieties. The vines are over 60 years old and grow on a mix of schist and rocky lacustrine limestone.
All varieties are harvested together and undergo several weeks of maceration with gentle extraction, following Christian’s own “Pink Maceration Method”. After gentle pressing, the wine ferments and ages in large oak barrels.
Bright, vibrant and highly aromatic, combining the freshness and lightness of a rosé with the depth and structure of a young red. It refuses to fit neatly into either category – which is exactly what makes Birdscape Pink so compelling. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no added sulphur.
