“I am a great believer in old native varieties on old vineyards. Wine is made in the vineyard, not the cellar. My goal is to produce a highly digestible wine while respecting and preserving the land.”
— Davide Andreatta

Davide Andreatta’s path into wine began almost by accident. In the early 2010s, he started helping friends in the vineyards, learning through observation, physical work and curiosity rather than through a fixed plan. By 2014, however, it had become clear that wine was no longer just a side passion. He rented a vineyard in Breganze, in Italy’s Veneto region, and began building a project rooted in the native grapes and old vineyards of his home landscape.

At the heart of Davide’s work are local varieties such as Vespaiola and Groppella, grapes that carry the memory of the region and are naturally well adapted to its conditions. For him, these old native varieties are not nostalgic curiosities, but living tools for making honest, resilient wines. They allow him to work with the land rather than against it, producing wines that feel fresh, digestible and deeply connected to place.

The vineyards of Breganze grow on volcanic rocks and ancient soils, giving the wines clarity, mineral tension and a distinctive freshness. Davide’s farming is low-intervention and guided by respect for soil health and biodiversity. Instead of pushing the vines, he focuses on preserving balance: healthy plants, living soils and fruit that arrives in the cellar already carrying its own energy.

In the cellar, the same philosophy continues. Fermentations are spontaneous, sulfur is used minimally or not at all, and the wines age in old barrels or fibreglass tanks depending on what each wine needs. There is no desire to polish away character or impose a style. The goal is simply to let the wine remain true: expressive, alive and easy to drink.

Davide’s bottles are famously stripped back, often without conventional labels. The name on the bottle becomes a seal of trust, a direct link between the grower and the drinker. His wines are quiet but full of personality: pure, mineral, refreshing and honest, shaped by old vines, native grapes and a deep respect for the land.
